Ellen Pogemiller for OK House District 88
The Oklahoma Democratic Veterans Federation strongly supports the election of Ellen Pogemiller to Oklahoma House District 88. The wife of a US Air Force Veteran who spent the final three of his six years active duty at Tinker Air Force Base, Ellen understands both the rewards and challenges facing the 40,000 active-duty military service members and their families in Oklahoma. As these families redeplooy from base to base, they need access to quality healthcare, including mental healthcare, to education for children, and to career opportunities for spouses. After separating from the service, they face challenges including employment, affordable housing and access to all kinds of healthcare.
Ellen Pogemiller believes that service members and Veterans all deserve opportunities like the VA’s Health Care Professionals Scholarship Program, without which her husband Mark and family would still be laboring under medical school debt. With the Oklahoma Education Association, she supported successful legislation recognizing schools as Purple Star Schools if they designate a military liaison to provide professional development to employees and programs supporting military children and families. As an Oklahoma legislator she will continue to support and fund programs within the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs to assist Veterans across all stages of life, beginning with the transition from active duty, and advocate for Veterans’ interests. Ellen will work closely with public and private organizations supporting Veterans and military families.
