My brother is an Iraqi Freedom veteran, a winner of the Soldier’s Medal.

Another nephew has served in the Ohio National Guard.

  1. What do you consider the most important issues facing veterans and military families?

The most pressing concern is the mental health of veterans and the need to reduce the high rate of suicide among veterans.

I would also like to see active service members have more access to mental healthcare along with measures to reduce the stigma of mental illness.

  1. In what ways can you be helpful to Veterans and military families if elected to office?

I am a mental health professional and know the impact of trauma from both a personal and clinical perspective. I want to help service members and veterans get the help they need and deserve. I will bring my experience to the office and use my unique perspective to be a strong advocate for veterans, service members, and their families.

These may of course include policies not specifically directed to those communities.
